Simon Says...Let's Doodle

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...

LET'S DOODLE

I created a Doodled Flowers art journal page in my Dylusions Black Creative Journal and you may need to wear your sun specs for today's bright and very colourful project.

and please forgive this absent minded crafter for the "out of sequence-caught up in the moment" set of higgedly piggedly photos...

I trimmed a piece of Distress Watercolor card to measure 7" square and used Antique Linen and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxides with the familiar smooshing, drying and spritzing technique. I used the Botanical stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Botanical and Batik inked with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide to add subtle detail to the background.

I revisited an old "more bang for your buck" technique and die cut flowers from fun foam using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tattered Florals Bigz die to create my own set of foam stamps. I cut the leaf and flower centre from an extra flower die cut, fixed two die cuts together to create a bit more cushioning and added a glue dot to the back of each. You can use the die-cut fun foam stamps over and over again, just clean with a baby wipe and store in a polybag.

I fixed the foam stamps to the lid of my Stamp Platform and dabbed on Distress Paint with my fingers...you can use a mini round blending tool with foam to apply the paint if that suits you better and if you need to restamp, make sure that the first layer of paint is dry first.

I inked one of the images from Ornate Trims with Black Soot Archival and stamped randomly on the background.

I used my Ranger Black Fude Pen, Sharpie Black Fine Liner and Sakura White Bold Jelly Roll pens to doodle around the flowers, add patterns and accents and it's important to make sure the paint is thoroughly dry before you start doodling or you will damage the nibs of your pens.

I tapped the Ranger Craft Scraper into Spiced Marmalade and the eraser on the end of a pencil into Black Soot Distress Paints to add a cross hatch pattern and dots to the background.

To create the wording on the opposite page, I used "donkey's old/saving for a rainy day" American Crafts Remarks Alphabet stickers from my stash

and stamped the flowers and letters from the Cut-out Lower Foam stamp set on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper, cut out and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.

I added cross hatching, white eraser pencil dots and doodling on the flowers and letters.
